Shel Lyons finally launched the Mothers' Rights Network, a concept she and other mothers had discussed for a year before, since the birth of her daughter, Calla. Shel realized that there was a greater need for an organization focused on mothers' rights, not just women's rights, because as long as women were only equal if they did not have children, women would never attain equal rights for the exact reason that they would never have the equal right to have children. Shel registered for http://www.MothersWork.org and officially founded the Mothers Rights Network.
